safe mode error

This is the message I have when I try to find a image on the server, to download it and put in HTML editor.

" There are errors in your configuration or server. If the messages below describe missing variables, please check the supplied configuration.php.dist for notes on their usage.

* KFM does not work if you have safe_mode enabled. This is not a bug - please see PHP.net's safe_mode page for details"

I can't understand what is the problem and how to solve it. This doesn't happens in my local server - managed by MAMP.

Could anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

You could try putting this:

php_value safe_mode off

inside the .htaccess file to turn it OFF.

Some hosting panels also have a place in the options section for turning safe mode off. It all depends on the hosting company. Some will take the time to secure their servers properly, and others use the shotgun approach and restrict anything that might cause a problem. The cheaper the hosting, the more restrictive they tend to be.

If it doesn't already exist you can create one with a text editor.
