How to make a URL in the search results work as a live link

How to make a URL in the search results work as a live link

I've created an advanced text search box on my site, which visitors will be able to use to search for articles that have been published on my site. So, when a visitor searches for articles that have been published on my site, the results page displays the URL for each of the resulting articles, where the visitor can find a published copy of the article on my site.

I am able to display the URL in the search results, but it's a non-working URL. Is there a way to make the URL a functioning (or "live") link to the page on my site where the article has been published?

I think just surrounding it with link tags is all that would be needed:

<a href="<?php echo($row_YOURRecordset['column_url']); ?>"><?php echo($row_YOURRecordset['column_url']); ?></a>

If the article has a 'friendly' name, i.e. title, then the second php bit could contain that column name:

<a href="<?php echo($row_YOURRecordset['column_url']); ?>"><?php echo($row_YOURRecordset['column_title']); ?></a>

Making a "live" link in search results - thank you Neilo!

Thank you! It worked! I ESPECIALLY appreciate your suggestion about using the "friendly" name of the article in the second part of the PHP coding. That suggestion led me to make the article's title (which is in the first row in the results table) a live link. As a result, I don't have to show the actual URL in the results, and the results page is thus much cleaner and more professional looking.

Thanks again.
