No Installation wizard

First I must admit I'm a 74 year old in way over my head with all this web site stuff... okay... thats been clarified. I created a "Power Gallery" folder at the local level in my Dreamweaver CS4 program, put all the downloaded files in it and uploaded ("Put") it to the server level. Went to the server web site, signed in, found the "Power Gallery" folder in my web site and clicked on it like I thought the instructions said to do. Nothing happened... no installation wizard. Came back to Dreamweaver, opened the remote folder, clicked on the Power Gallery folder... nothing. Somebody please explain in simple layman terms what I did wrong and what I need to do. Thanks!!

Ol' Don

Now I need to post a note regarding the Dynamic Dropdown extension ;o(

Did you set up the database? Also, you need to sign on using your site's URL (not navigating to the folder and opening it, for example, index.php

As shadow pointed out, it looks like your issue is that you are navigating to the directory in windows explorer, not going to the index.php page in the browser. The installation wizard is run within the browser and you will just have to fill in the correct information to get the gallery set up.

Another installation step

Thank you!!... so far so good but... "Files and directories cannot be created. Verify your powergallery directory has write permissions." Now, how do I do this? Like I said, This is all foreign to me so I appreciate your help

Now in windows explorer, you will have to go to all the directories in your PowerGallery directory on the server and make sure that the read and write permissions are set. Right click on the directory and go to properties. In the properties window, you will have to set full control for all the users.

Thank you! Took me a while to figure it out but I did "git 'er done". Only remaining problem I see now is that when I clicked on "Preview", I get a 404... not found window. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again!

This error means that there is a page missing. Make sure that you upload all of the folders for PowerGallery to your site.

Well, I've spent much of the last day trying to find the problem and just end up getting more frustrated. All the folder/files appear to be on the server and the only "glitch" I see is that the "images" folder has a red "X" on it. I have no idea why or what to do about it.

Could that be why I can't preview (or for that matter load/see my galleries on my web site)? Guess I should be used to seeing 404-not found by now not that I'm enjoying it;o(

Can anybody help me?

Can you send me a link to where your gallery is as well as a link to a page you have added one of the galleries to display on?

Are you using a hosting company? If so, which one are you working with?
