Dynamic Dropdown JavaScript Error (known issue fix)

Dynamic Dropdown JavaScript Error (known issue fix)

I am trying to set up a dynamic dropdown and I follow the instructions in the "Getting Started with Dynamic Dropdowns" but i get a error saying "While executing inspectBehavior in Populate List From Array.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.

I get this error after setting up the dreamweaver behavior "Populate Array From List"

I am using a PHP page in Dreamweaver CS4 running on a Mac if that makes any difference.

I would greatly appreciate any help

You should try deleting the cache file to see if that helps you to get past the error. There are instructions for doing this in the document here:

common_installation_issues.pdf

If this does not work to resolve the problem then there may be a corruption of your configuration folder. To undo that you would need to rename the configuration folder, here is a post with steps you can take for that:

I am getting this same error - it is very frustrating, as I am trying to troubleshoot why a drop down is not populating properly, and this keeps poping up.

If this many users are getting this error (it is seen frequently) may I suggest that it is likely a bug, either within Dreamweaver (I am on CS4) or within the WA Extensions - and that it needs to be solved.

I am tired of deleting my configuration and cache files! :(

Thanks,

Andrew

If you are able to get this to occur with regularity and have some steps that can be taken to produce this result consistently please let us know so we can look into this with you further. As for deleting the cache file or renaming the configuration folder these steps come from Adobe and are mentioned in the kb article on this subject, here is a post with a little more info:

Egad.. I love that pass the buck answer. ;oD

Honestly, I have been having nothing but problems ever since I started to use these extensions. Constant cache deletions temporarily solve the issue, but they always come back.

I must say that I have not succesfully built one part of an application while trying to use these "Super Suite" tools together. I grow more and more frustrated, and get less and less work done.

This has been going on for three days consistently now, and I just really need to get some work done!

How about actually testing this software before it is released, and if this is indeed a Dreamweaver issue and not an issue with WebAssist Extensions, then as Extension development partners, you should be hastling them to get these issues resolved and patched.

So far this purchase of extensions has not saved me time or money (which is its intention), it has however cost me time and money (billable time - not what I already paid for the extensions!)

You say that you have been experiencing problems with the extensions and have not built one part of an application. Is there a problem that you have come across that you have not been able to resolve? Are you currently having a problem with adding a server behavior or using a particular feature of the products? Please post back and include some info about any specific problem you are having that is preventing you from building your app and we will try to help you out.

If you browse around the site you will see a number of posts from me, all listing issues. Some have been resolved, but many are there due to the lack of documentation on anything but the simplest of single straightforward uses of one Extension at a time.

Yes, DataAssist works - but as soon as you want to use another extension from the "suite" then they can very easily "break" what DataAssist has done, use a third extension, and it can completely wipe out any work you have done with the second extension.

When I purchase a "Suite" of software I expect it to all work together. If there is a certain order that elements have to be used in, then I expect that order to be listed in some documentation.

I guess what I am saying is that these extensions do work, separatley from one another, but when you want to use them together, or use their advanced features, you start to notice a massive lack of documentation.

So far I am only trying to use 3 of the Extensions from the "Super Suite" and I have run into all of these issues, I am a little worried what I will find when I start to use more of them.

Please let us know about any problems you are having when using any of the tools either by themselves or in combination and we will help you with whatever we can. If you have any specific requests about the documentation or if you find any errors let us know so our documentation team is made aware.

Hi Eric,

After following the instructions on deleting cache and uninstalling/installing extensions, I still get the javascript error(attached screenshot). I am using CS4/php/mysql.

Thanks
