I re-download starting files but

I cannot find local root folder:
\ecart_4\dynamic\store_php2\
Is this because I downloaded these files a couple of times because I was having trouble and I deleted the Tutorial and then I re-downloaded it and I think I don't have all the files. This is getting real frustrating. I cannot do tutorial.
I am using php

Hi canonman,

If you want to follow the exact way as shown in the 'getting started guide', then you would create folders in:

(On a Windows PC): C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ecart_4\dynamic\store_php2\

(or on a Mac): Hard Drive:your_username:Sites:ecart_4:dynamic:store_php2:

They don't have to be named that way, but it may help to have the same setup as the tutorials.

You would copy the contents - folders and files - of your 'store_dynamic_sp_php' downloaded folder into the above folder.

If you are not sure whether or not you have all of the files, then it may be best to download afresh from your downloads page.

//edit: put in correct starting point folder name - neilo

I got files and now reads
C:\htdocs\wwwroot\eCart_4\dynamic\store_php2\
Note: I don't have Inetpub\ I put all my php files and dreamweaver files in
htdocs so hence C:\htdocs\wwwroot\eCart_4\dynamic\store_php2\
I think everything should be set up correctly but when I push f12 I get error message about css.
Please help. Do you sell the Tutorial files on a disk???

Hi Canonman,

Please could you post what the error message is? What page are you trying to preview when you see the error message?

You could easily download all of the documentation and put it on a disk - I find it easiest just to put it in a folder in the local root of the site I am currently working on so I can have it handy from within dreamweaver. I don't think WA provide it on disk, but I may be wrong.

It looks like it is having a hard time accessing the folder and file specified. If this is the only folder and file that is producing this error you may need to reset your site cache in DW. To do this go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache. Give this a try to see if it get's you past this error.

Another thing you may want to look at is the local info for your site. If you are testing locally and have local files specified in the testing server portion then you should have this same information specified in the local settings. This way DW will not need to sync to the testing server since it is the same location as your local files.

Eric - I get this with any folder. I reset my site cache but still the same. I checked the setting on testing server and same result. I am at a loss I think I must be missing some file in the download.

Canonman, - What is your OS?

Perhaps you aren't running Dreamweaver as an administrator, and UAC (User Access Control) is stopping you from access the htdocs folder.

If you haven't already done so,

Close Dreamweaver.
In the start menu right-click the DreamWeaver icon and select 'Properties'.
In the 'Compatibility' tab, near the bottom there is a 'Run this program as an Administrator'
Make sure this is checked.

You will need to click OK ever time you Run Dreamweaver, as this should give you the permission to write to the local web root.

That may be it.

Sorry you're still having problems, John. I don't know if you are missing a file, -you may be, but that is not what is causing this problem!

What Operating system are you using - XP, Vista, Mac? The message is about being denied access. If you are on XP, are you logged on as Administrator?

If you are on Vista, what happens if you right click the Dreamwever Icon in your 'Start' menu and directly select 'Run as Administrator'?
