PayPal IPN email receipt help

I setup my cart with PayPal Standard and IPN page. It all works fine except when emailing a receipt with Universal Email from IPN page.

In the body of the email where the purchased items should show up I get 'this cart is empty' message.

I basically copied all the code from the 'email friendly' cart.php page into the body of the Universal Mail email in order to show the items and prices.

You will need to add in add to cart > get contents from form then select PayPal IPN Cart for the payment gateway. This server behavior will allow the cart to be repopulated with the IPN post from PayPal. Once the cart is populated you should be able to send the receipt with the contents showing.

I just thought it might be a good idea to also attach the Universail Mail email script.

The page looks ok to me. Are you getting any of the info added to the db or updated? Troubleshooting an IPN page can be difficult since you do not see the page directly. You will need to do some testing of the page with the IPN tester that PayPal has available in the developer center. If you need to add in debugging to the page you can add in some standard insert server behaviors onto the page. If you place them before and after the various parts you can do some testing of the page and check the db to see how far along it gets. You can then try to determine why that part is not working.

If you are getting all of the items details into the db then it indicates the cart is being repopulated properly. If you are getting a message about the cart being empty then there is likely a problem with the email friendly cart display code that you are using. Rather than copy this code from another page you should go into the body tab of your Universal Email page and using the edit with DW button create a new cart display using the email friendly cart display. You can add in your logo back to the top of the page also.

I think this might fix the problem for you and get you the entire cart contents to display in the email. If you have any more problems with this let us know.
