limiting the products in the left column

limiting the products in the left column

It's nice that the products are listed in the left column of the store pages. However, I want to have some control over that list. It's too long in most cases. Is there a way to decide how many total products show or maybe to limit the number of products per category that appear?

Also, How can I adjust the number of products that show on a results page? I know I could dig around in the code but maybe you could provide a quicker answer.

Thanks
Steve

The listing that you see on the left of the pages is controlled by the code in the CSSMenuWriter > intermediate.php file. In here there are two queries that power the listing. You can adjust the queries to meet your needs for these listings, however the queries used are a bit advanced and knowledge of SQL would be required to make these changes.

If you would like to change the number of products listed on the results page open up the Products_Results page and look for this line of code:

php:
$maxRows_WADAProducts = 5;

This is the setting for the number of results that you see on the page at a time.

can you give me SOME indication of which lines to change? That list is just too long. I need to be able to limit the number.

Also - I changed the string in "WA_Globals" that you pointed out to increase the number of items shown on the "Products_results" page. However, this screwed things up. If you go to the site - sheetmusic4less.com - and do a search for "mozart" you can see the last page does not format properly. search for "ricordi". the first page looks fine but most other pages have several, if not all of the results pushed over to the right and are unreadable. this same thing happened when I changed the above code you pointed out. I replaced the "products_results.php" page with a fresh one and it is still doing the same thing. perhaps the problem is in the css file?

one last thing. It would be nice to add the "next" & "prev" links to the bottom of the results page as well. It never shows up except on the very last item in the "mozart" search. what is going here??

thanks

Steve

ok... I figured it out. my client was pasting "css" from his source pages and that was throwing off the page css.
