what should be next step after creating checkout form?

This isn't enough information. What are you using? Forms? eCart? PowerStore? Paypal integration?

It's been too many years since I've used eCart, but perhaps someone on this forum will have some insight.

I have left PowerStore and eCart for a hosted application called

I have had about 6 PS sites and earlier, several eCart sites. I have to say, ecwid.com is very client friendly. It has many payment options including, send a check later, etc. I found it very easy to get connected to payment interface.

If you just have a few products, there is a free version too.

With software support on WA at EOL, I am advising not spending energy on trying to learn eCart. IF/WHEN php versions move on, there won't be any updates to help you keep up with server changes.
