Known issue (and solution) for Digital File Pro 2 with Transparent PNGs

When uploading a PNG file that contains a transparent background (via a page created with Digital File Pro 2), the background is converted to black. We offer a file fix for this bug in the Download Center that you can copy/paste to any of your sites, as needed.

Log in and visit the Download Center. Click on Digital File Pro 2; then click on the Known Issues section. Download the related zip file and follow the instructions in the readme file.

Resources not found in Universal Email 4.0 Download Center

I have Universal Email 4.0 which replaced Digital File Pro 2 and I can't find your resources regarding the fix for it

QUOTE "the background is converted to black. We offer a file fix for this bug in the Download Center" ...not in Universal Email 4 download center to my knowledge...

Please email me the link or file to the "black background" problem as my transparent images are changing black.

Thank you,

Could someone please send me the link to the fix for "background is converted to black" regarding Digital File Pro 2 software issue. I have Universal Email 4 and can't find any link in the download center for the bug fix.

We are looking into this issue, it seems some of the code was changed and the fix no longer works. In the meantime as a workaround if you are not resizing, you can just set up a regular file upload.

Regular file upload doesn't work

I tried setting it up with regular file uploads i.e. no resizing, no background changes and it still doesn't work.

These backgrounds that turn black are only occuring in png and gif images. Jpg images are fine.

Here is the script:

'FileName' => "1b",
'DefaultFileName' => "",
'ResizeType' => "0",
'ResizeWidth' => "",
'ResizeHeight' => "",
'ResizeFillColor' => "" );
// WA_UploadResult1_1 End
// WA_UploadResult1 Params End

I'm really frustrated because I've gotten alot of complaints from customers about this issue for over three months and still no fix.

We where not able to find a true fix for this person, it seams to be a problem with an earlier version of the free type library:

Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with the gd library and specifically

FreeType Version 2.3.7

where some .gif files will not retain transparency settings. We implemented a work around of setting the transparency color to white so that the issue isn't apparent on the site.

I think updating to a more recent freetype library may be the only way to truly solve the problem since I was unable to reproduce it with:

FreeType Version 2.3.9

Let us know if we can help with anything else.

is the fix mentioned by Anna Robinson still available as I can't find it and I'm also getting black backgrounds?

The fix was incorporated into Digital File Pro 2.0.3, What version of Digital File Pro are you using?
