data or image upload ... but not both

I worked on this over the holidays without posting because you guys were likely gone. But I was unable to find any answers here ... clues but no answers.

I can either get an image upload to either upload the file or I can get it to add the data to the database for the image field. But not both at the same time ......

Why is this product so complicated?

To store the file name in the database, you must use the DataAssist insert record server behavior. it will not work with the Dreamweaver insert record serve behavior due to limitations.

See the "How to apply Digital File Pro to DataAssist Insert and Update pages" tutorial in the how to section of the DFP support page:
digital-file-pro/

if you are still having difficulties, please send a copy of your page so I can examine the code.

Thanks Jason,

Got it uploading to proper directories and everything. But that has left me with another problem.

I have a detail image and a thumb image. Both get uploaded to the server fine.

- Problem 1: It only adds the file name of the detail image to the database. I assume I need to add another field perhaps fpr the thumb image to the database, but how do I get it to add the thumb image to the thumb field with only one file upload field?

I looked through the documentation pdf files and I don't see anything about this.

Same Database issue in regrads to thumbnail filename

Hi Brad! I am having that same problem I think...

When I set up the image upload, it is doing everything fine EXCEPT the thumbnail image name is not going to the database. How is this resolved?

I have followed the tuts and I am happy that both the original image and the thumbnail are showing up in their respective folders, but why doesn't the text appear in the database for the thumbnail?

Hi walt,

I will assume you made the same mistake I did. Did you create two seperate folders for the images and two seperate database fields?

That was my mistake. Youonly need the one database field for both the thumbnail and the original and any other versions of the image.

All you need to do is delete the '_thumb' or what ever the the default rename is set to so that each version you upload has the same name. Then when you call it up to display from the database you use the same field for all versions but you set your image source to go to the appropriate folder for what you are displaying.

So in short you end up with a file in each folder with the exact same file name which is what gets sent to the database.

Now that I am used to that, I kind of like that. Really does make sense. Hope that helps.
