Vertical Menu Questions

I created a preset in CSS Sculptor and used that preset with SiteAssist Pro to create my site. When I reconfigured the menu such as adding new catagories and shifting the catagories under the "home" page rather than a flyout menu I noticed that independent folders were not created in the site root.

The default menu such as Catagory 1,2, etc. had folders in the site root. Will these be created when I use ECART or DataAssist or should I create these root folder for each catagory first?

I also noticed that sometimes when I use the SiteAssist Pro template to make mods to the layout that not all of the pages are updated. There have been a couple of times I have had to go in and delete the changes, save changes, redo the changes and save again for it to update all connected pages. I was going crazy for a while trying to find out why my template would have the changes but the indepent pages were not updated. I seemed to have a work around for that when it happens.

So far so good for a "green horn". Thanks for the continued support and Happy New Year to All!

Thanks

When it comes to the folders and the files that reside in them you do not need to create the structure if the pages already exist and links are going to them correctly. Only if the pages need to be in these directories and the directories are not there would you need to create them manually.

As for the problems you are having with the template you could check on the pages that are derived from the template. At the top of these pages should be a reference to the template file. If the reference is in place then any updates to the non editable regions of the template should propagate to all the pages derived from it.

The template functionality is not a property of SiteAssist but is built in Dreamweaver functionality, so long as the pages have the reference on them the updates should work for all the pages. If not there may be a problem with your current DW instance. If this were the case restarting DW and recreating the site cache should help to clear things up.

Thanks Eric

Hi Eric:

Thanks for the update! As for the template it was created using CSS Sculptor. DW does display the template name. For some unknown reason the template became "uneditable" in one of the regions. Once that was corrected all went well!

Thanks again!

That is good to hear. Sometimes dealing with templates can be a little tricky. I'm glad you were able to get the region editable again and continue with it.
