U.E. SMTP requires authentication

U.E. SMTP requires authentication

I am setting up a PHP system that will run on my localhost only. However, I'm having tons of trouble trying to get U.E. to work. On the first screen, it's asking me for my SMTP server, and my port, which is fine, except that my host requires authentication in order to send emails, and there is no option for me to enter my user name and password. How can I achieve this? Thanks!

I am very, very new to PHP. Is there something I need to do to get PEAR set up?

Yes, you will have to set up PEAR on your server. It should be included with PHP, but you will have to set it up. Here is a tutorial on setting it up:

Is this tutorial valid for Vista, too? It only mentions XP...

Did you use the wizard to set up your PHP?

I used XAMPP to install the Apache server, PHP and PHPMYADMIN.

Looks like this is the way you would install pear on an xampp setup:
