Pass Url string to hidden form field

Have a need to capture the URL string, example:
passthis?ID=1234

I need to capture the 1234 following the ID= and plug it into a hidden field on the form (ASP form) so that it is passed to the database with the rest of the form. I have seen this done but am having a Holiday Brain fade and cannot remember where or how. Appreciate any assistance.
