mr hankey

using post and get to add to database

hi,

as per previous discussion with eric.

would i create my form like this:

app_page1 - use post to app_page2 and use get on app_page2 from app_page1?

how would i then add this into the database with an insert?

many thanks again eric

No, do not switch between get and post.

on the first page create your form as:
[html]<form name="form1" method="post" action="">
<input type="text" name="firstname" id="firstname">
<br>
<input type="text" name="lastname" id="lastname">
<br>
<input type="submit" name="button" id="button" value="Submit">
</form>
[/form]

On the second page, create any new text fields you want, and create hidden form elements with the same name as the form elements from the first page:

php:
<form name="form1" method="post"  action="">

    <input type="text" name="city" id="city">
    <br>
    <input type="text" name="state" id="state">
    <br>
    <input name="firstname" type="hidden" id="firstname" value="<?php echo((isset($_POST["firstname"]))?$_POST["firstname"]:""?>">
    <br>
    <input name="lastname" type="hidden" id="lastname" value="<?php echo((isset($_POST["lastname"]))?$_POST["lastname"]:""?>">
    <br>
    <input type="submit" name="button" id="button" value="Submit">
</form>

the hidden form elements are set to capture the posted values from the first page, these values will be reposted with the form on the second page.

In the insert record behavior, you just need to bind the form elements contained on the second page.

mr hankey

and does this need to be done manually or can css form builder let me achive this through wizard?

the insert record behaviour is that the one standard inside dreamweaver?

css form builder can create the forms, but it will not be able to bind the hidden form fields fields to get the values from the previous form you will need to do that step manually.

you can use the DW Insert behavior for this, sure.

You will need to set the action to the page you wish the posted information to go to.
