can't create /Connections/powergallery.php

I get to step two to enter database and I get below:

ERROR: The database connection file (../Connections/powergallery.php) could not be created. Please verify the powergallery folder permissions allow write access.

I have changed permissions but doesn't change anything

Hiya,

Here's what I had to do:

When you first copy the Power Gallery files and folders to your local site, for some reason by default they are all marked as read only.

In your 'Files' panel in Dreamweaver, right-click the folder that contains your Power Gallery files and folders and click 'Turn off Read Only'. Then re-upload the Power Gallery files and folders to your remote server.

Then try going through the admin set-up again.

As Neilo said, the error you are experiencing is most likely caused by file permissions for the all user. Make sure that read and write permissions are set for the all user.

still won't work

Hi and thank you for your responses, i've tried all that and changed permissions through FTP and Dreamweaver but with no joy, any other solutions would be gratefully received.

Su

P.S. I've just had another play, in my control panel for domains all the files in powergallery folder are writable, the only one that isn't is the connections folder which i can't change the permissions.

I'm sorry but i've just about given up now, used many of your other extensions etc which I can't fault so would it be possible for a refund on this one.

What happens if you manually enter your database details into your local copy of Connections/powergallery.php and upload that to the remote site? Do you get past that hurdle in the gallery admin setup?

connections folder

ok will try, there isn't a connections folder on initial download, do you mean download the one from server and make it up that way.

Sorry - yes that would be fine, or you could put your details into the three areas in the attached, and upload that to the server. It's worth a try.

got to next step

Hi there, and thank you i got all excited as I got to the next step to choose admin login, then i get error message below:

ERROR: Failed to save the settings in the database. Please verify your database connection.

regards Su

NOTE: i just had a re play, and looking through the code their should be a file named installed.txt in the Connections folder which i've created that now lets me get to the log in page, but don't know log in details, also it didn't create tables in the database so I copied the db.sql and run sql in database admin. Thats as far as i've got but can't log in now.

Could you check if safe mode is turned on for your php server? Other users have run into issues when trying to set up Power Gallery if safe mode is turned on.

Unfortunately, since Power Gallery is a solution and not an extension, we do not offer returns on it as is stated in the Frequently Asked Questions section on the Power Gallery page:

give up then

Can't turn safe mode off, so I give up, as waisted to much time trying to sort.
