script

script

I followed the instructions, left the email server blank, then tried specifying the server, which was confirmed correct with the provider, and nothing has worked yet. On the page for the web form, shouldn't there be a path specified for the script in the action=""? It seems like it is not seeing the settings. After I click on the submit button it does respond with the "thank you" page, but I don't receive an email to either of my test addresses. I didn't change anything else but the email server and the email address in the CAPTCHA settings.

Thanks,

If it is proceeding to the thank you page, it is attempting to send the email but for some reason the mail server is not relaying the message.

First thing to check is that you host supports sending emails using the php mail() function. if they do, ask for a sample script, this may give clues on how the contact form solution pack needs to be configured.

The will also be able to tell you what to enter for the email server.

make sure that you are not using the same email address for the to address and the from address.

the to address wil be the address you set in the WA_Globals.php file. The from address will be the address you use in the form, do not enter the same address when filling out the form that you used in the WA_Globals.

You may also want to ask the host to look in the smtp server error logs, this may help determine why the email is not being relayed.

tried that

I called the hosting, it is windows-based hosting.

I checked with the hosting company, they confirmed the name of the relay server.

The hosting does offer php 5.0 scripting.

The email addresses are different, they are web mail accounts with two different companies, the from address is gmail, the to address is with my hosting company.

Is there an email address I can send the file to for you to look at?

Also, a question I asked yesterday that was not addressed is, on the form page, should the action="" be left blank? Other articles I have read seem to have a setting there.

Thanks

Yes the action should be left blank.

What is your hosting company?

do they have a sample php script for sending an email using the php mail() function? can you attach it to your reply.

puzzled

I am a reseller for godaddy and my hosting division is called eStartupWeb.com. But everything is managed by godaddy.com.

Attached is the php they want me to use, but I went with Web Assist's option which is why they will give me minimum support with this issue.

Thanks,
Jeff

The php script did not attach to your reply. Please add it top a zip file and attach the zip file to your replay so I can see the script.

this script does not use the PHP mail function to send the email. it is creating a mail file that is placed on the mail server for relay.

I seam to recall that with GoDaddy, they do not support using the php mail() function on windows hosting accounts. They only support the PHP mail() function using a Linux hosting account.

You may be able to have them switch you to a linux hosting account free of charge.

linux hosting

I have purchased a linux hosting account for hosting, (from godaddy.com) and it still doesn't work. I have followed the instructions and nothing has worked. The advertising you use doesn't work, and now, of course, after I purchase it, the software goes on sale.

Very disappointed.

You advertise, I'll be able to use the form in minutes, and that just isn't so.

Obviously, you have to be a php expert to make this work.

I had planned on purchasing other software from webassist.com but now I question how the other software would work.

It is not necsarry to be a PHP exxpert to get the solution pack working.

GoDaddy is notoriously difficult with sending emails using the PHP mail() function. DO a google search for "godaddy php email script" and you will find tons of evidence of people having difficulties sending emails using GoDaddy:

search?q=godaddy+php+email+script

In a few threads I found reference to the version of PHP, It seams they do not enable the mail() function in PHP 4, you need to request PHP 5 hosting to for the mail() function to work. If you are still having problems, contact GoDaddy support and ask them if sending emails using the PHP mail() function is supported on your hosting account just to make sure.
