2 Bugs - Edit Width and contentWrapper Background

I am trying to change the contentWrapper background in CS3/Vista x64 with the current CSSsculptor 3 with the patch installed.

  1. It will not let me edit the background image of the content wrapper and replace the png file that is default. Even when I open the xml file and change it there, delete the DW cache file, and close and reopen DW, so I know the xml file reads a different background file (and I applied this image to the footer background, so I know the extension has copied/cached this file), the edit css interface still has the background image of contentWrapper unavailable for change.
  2. If you start with a page as 940px wide and want to change it later, it seems it will not let you change the width. I had to edit the xml file to make the change occur. I believe it is because changing the width on the layout tab still reads the design tab width of the outerWrapper and changing the width of the outerWrapper still reads the width of the page in the layout tab. Just a guess.

BTW, this was all trying to setup a custom 3column fixed with header and footer.

Thanx,
Steven

To answer your first question:

The contentWrapper image is generated automatically based on any changes you make to the layout. If you want to change the background image, on the Layout Tab make sure to un-check the equal column lengths check box.

For the second question, i was able to change the width with no problems. Could you please explain a little bit more about what you experiencing when you change the width.

Ok. I have not delved into it yet, but how is the new CSS Sculptor creating equal column lengths? I did have that box checked. What I noted was that it was fine as long as the left and right columns were taller than the content, but if the content was taller than the side columns, the side column borders still stopped early. I wanted to edit the contentWrapper background to use faux columns to overcome this. If possible, I would like to see this checkbox ensure that all columns are equal height within the contentWrapper. Right now, I have already moved on with this site. I justed edited content wrapper after the page was created, but obviously that isn't the goal of the extension.

Well I can try to recreate it. I started a 3 column centered fixed page and began to customize it. I didn't finish but saved the partially complete style. I came back to edit is and wanted to change from 940px to 950px and could not. It may only happen after you save and then come back to edit the saved layout.

Thanks for getting back to us on that. I have tried those steps as well, but have not been able to reproduce the issue.

The steps I took were to start with 3 column fixed width header and footer. Then I changed the width to 940 px. I finished and saved the preset. Then I canceled out of the wizard, opened it up and chose the preset I saved. Edited the CSS and changed the width to 950 px.

Strange. I removed any prior extension before installing the current one. I tried changing the width on the first tab and on the css box tab. either way it was undoing the change.

Did you use the apply button to the preview after making the change? I just had a thought about that... I will test the theory and get back to you.

I did not use the apply button to apply the change. I did however hit tab after modifying the value to change the focus to another input area.

I did do that.

Were you able to reproduce the issue when hitting the apply button for the preview?

I tried the most basic recreation. I just started a 3 column fixed with header and footer, changed the width and saved the preset. Then I created a new page using the preset. I was able to change the width of the page as you say and I could not recreate the error.

I'll try to track what the issue was if I encounter it again. When it happened, I had made a much larger number of changes to the page design, so it is difficult to recreate.

I also repeated this process with the layout that caused me the problem. The one where I went into the xml file to change and I could change the page width. I think I may have developed a cache error or something when I was working before.
