Friendly URL's

Hi

Im sure someone has done this so, does anyone know how to write dynamic url's to friendly url's?
My page is customerwork.php?id=1 is in the root directory
I want it to show as 1
the code i have written in the .htaccess file is

RewriteEngine on
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)/?$ customerwork.php?id=$1 [L]

Is this correct or not? All it shows is customerwork.php?id=1 in the address bar

Thanks in advance

Carl

good book

For a bit of bedtime reading, i can recommend a good book, entitled Profession Search Engine Optimisation with PHP, (Wrox Press).

It covers friendly url's extensively

I wrote a blog post (web-development-cheat-sheets/) the other day about some cheat sheets, and they have a cool one specifically about mod_rewrite (mod_rewrite-cheat-sheet/). Its a handy reference that I use when writing mod_rewrite rules.
