Password Validation Message Customization?

Thread began 11/19/2009 7:48 am by kennyr394089 | Last modified 11/23/2009 12:09 pm by Jason Byrnes | 3148 views | 7 replies |

Password Validation Message Customization?

Can I customize what the form says if I don't fill in the password correctly in a registration form?

For example, if a number is required, and I don't put one, it says, "The password doesn't meet the specified strength.". That is too general - how do I know what the "specified strength" is supposed to be??

Is there a way to customize that message?

Thanks,

Kenny

Yes you can do that.

Highlight the spry input field. Make sure you click on the blue "tag" that appears as you hover over it. Then in the properties inspector flick through the preview states until the message you want to edit appears (on the page, next to the input field). Then just edit as you would any text.

Hope that's what you meant.

Got it

Thanks for the reply John.

I couldn't find it the way you described it, but a coworker said "look in the code", and duh - it was right there. (oops)

Thanks again for taking time to answer my post. :o)

one issue

If you modify the settings for a spry input field and for some reason need to rerun the css form builder wizzard, your modifyed settings are changed back to standard settings and you need to modify them again. Should it be like that ?

You can set the validation error message in the CSS Form Builder interface.

In the Edit Form contents wizard, select a Group, then click the Edit button.

Select a Set in the next screen, you can set the Validation Message for each set.

Yes you can set the Validation error message in Css Form Builder, but just one for each set. Sometimes you need two.

You want to validate a phone number. In the Validation error message field in Css Form Builder you type. "This field is required". After you have finished the Css Form Builder Wizzard you need to modify the phone number field. You want to change the default error message for the Spry textfield from the default message "Invalid format" to "Please select a valid phone number". You also want to use the Validation pattern field and the Enforce pattern checkbox for the Spry field to format the input properly.

Later you nedd to rerun the Css Form Builder Wizzard. When you are done your modifyed settings for the Spry text field are changed back to default settings and you need to modify them again. Should it be like that ?
