repeat regions

Hi

followed the tutorial and created a search with results etc.

All works perfectly but (ok theres always a but;-)

my results include 12 items which I've place in a table containing two rows with six fields.

I've highlighted the tr tag and created a repeat region.

How to I get some space between each set of results?

ie I have the results which at the moment are shown as

a
b
c
d

I'd like

a

b

c

d

thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

You just need to adjust the table to the way you want it to look. You can create gaps between rows in your table two ways:

1. Setting the height of the row to allow for the appearance of gaps between the text
2. Inserting empty rows in your table between the data rows

The most usual way of presenting data in a table is to set the cell-spacing and cell-padding attributes to the table to (say) cell-spacing 1px, cell-padding 2px, and setting the height of the row and background colour to match your page design.

Alternatively, you can insert empty rows between, so that the data rows have a background colour, and the empty row doesn't.

Or you can have data in the first four rows (or however many) and have an empty row as the last row.

The thing is that however you design it, if you select that as a repeating region, it will repeat that design.

So, if you want: row - gap - row - gap, just create the table with two rows, data in the first row, and leave the second row empty. You can then adjust the height of the empty row to the gap you want between rows.

Update

Thanks Neil

think I'm falling into the php/mysql hole and forgetting the basics of html and css;-)

Of course now you say it it's simple and if I hadn't been concentrating on record sets and everything probably would have workied it out.

thanks

Ian
