Blank Screen with SA

While everything works fine when I locally test my application with Security Assist, when I run the pages on my production Apache Server only blank pages appear. Dreamweaver is set up for relative to Document. I've tried turning on Error Reporting=E_ALL. I've even tried taking out ALL of the PHP and it still won't display with an extension of .PHP although it displays OK is it has an extension of .HTML.

I have 24 hours before this has to go live and no idea what to try next!!!

HELP!!!!!!

Just to confirm (before Dani gets back to you) does the page display OK as php if you remove the:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

From line 1?

Holy Cow!

Yes, it does. What the heck does that statement do???? Haven't gone much further but it seems like something good might happen!

OK, gone a bit further. So far it seems all of the pages are displaying. Of course, I've taken out most of the SA code so now I need to put it all back. That statement seems to kill PHP on my new pages although it looks like it is put there automatically from the DW template we use.

Hi,

I only suggest this as I had a similar problem from quite an old site I had to add to, I think I was using an older version of DW (MX?).

I have googled the problem, and there are quite a few threads where this crops up. There seems to be a concensus that this code is not necessary (or useful) unless you are serving the page as an xml feed.

This from one thread:

Not specifically, but as stated before, it will throw IE into Quirks Mode, which will yield some odd results. Just remove it, unless you're serving your pages as XML, it's not needed.

Hopefully someone with a greater understanding of these things will be able to throw some light on it!

Thanks!

Neilo,
You saved my bacon. I had the whole application working like a charm. I uploaded it to the production server this morning and nothing worked. This is the first time we've ever used PHP pages generated from an HTML template with Dreamweaver 8.

Obviously, I should have tested it on the production server earlier in the process.

This is such an odd error. I would never have found it. Thank you so much!

Your welcome - glad that it worked. Hopefully someone will be able to explain to us both why it worked!

Cheers
