I need some design advice

I need some design advice

Creating a paid subscriber site. Ecart wizard created confirm page with store summary and detail behaviors and that works as expected.

My goal is to automatically add the subscriber to a subscriber file with a temporary password and with a flag set regarding the subscription he/she just bought.

should I add the new subscriber record when user lands in the checkout_success page?
should I move the store to database behaviors from the confirm page to the checkout_success page?

Regards,

Gregg

The store to database server behavior should stay on the confirm page, and any added functionality should be added to the confirm page before it is redirected on your check out success page.

As far as using a file to store subscribers, i'm not clear on how you are going to achieve that.

if you could expand a little more on how you are going do that?

Dani,

The subscribers file contains registered users and contains a series of flags that control access to various sections of the site. ( all presently working as it should)

At the end of a successful purchase I would like to create a new subscriber using name etc from the Orders record that has just been created. I could create the new subscriber record first in the process and then at the success stage simply set the appropriate flags. Just trying to sort out the best approach.

Thank you for your time,

Gregg

Thanks for the explanation.

In this case, on the check out success page, you will need to add a record set that pulls the order information from the orders table and make sure to match the order id in the cart with the order id in the table. (note: you will need to do this at the top of the check out success page, because the session is cleared at the bottom). And once you have a valid record from the database then you can update the flag in the subscriber file.
