checkout on mac using firefox

I have a client that has reported a user issue. When the user is on a mac using firefox and they hit checkout (from the view cart page) they are getting a "cart empty" message.

The cart is not secure on the view cart page, the checkout page is.
could this be an issue ?

thanks
sam

I ran through a test and after clicking check out i was redirected to this page:

cart_checkout.php

The user could have done a couple of things to get the message. He could have cleared the cache of the browser and tried clicking the check out page, or he was on the page for a long time so the session has expired.
