HTTPS Links on Local Site Server

When working with a site that requires some pages with ssl using https in the url, what is the best approach when working and testing the site from the local cpu/server? In the browser it will attempt to resolve to the https url. Is it just a matter of correcting the url in the browser from to connect to ? I do not have a certificate set up on the local server. Or is there a better way?

Yes, for testing, you just need to change https to http in the address bar.
