Windows 7 and IE 8 (8.0.7600) position issue

I am having an issue with the positioning of a menu but only in windows 7 using IE8(8.0.7600), if I view the same site thru windows xp using IE 8 (build 8.0.6001) the positioning is fine.

The menu appears to shift to the right buy approx 220px, to check this I added a div tag around it with a left margin set at -220px and the menu positioned correctly in the browser win7 ie8. I have tried this in firefox 3.5, opera 9.62 & 10.01 & safari 4.03 and all display the page correctly only the combination of win7 and IE8 has the issue, pulling my hair out with this one not to mention need to get this site finished.

Note using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, IE8 32bit & 64bit

The navigation should not print on top of the flower graphic, but to the left of it.

All good on the Mac platform (Firefox, Safari) and Windows IE6.
