Need to set ini_set('Sendmail_from','email address')

Need to set ini_set('Sendmail_from','email address')

I'm using ixwebhosting and they require a command be send when an email is being sent.

ini_set('sendmail_from', 'email address');

Where should I put this in the code?

Terry

PS. I'm using the PowerStore universal email.

add it to any page that sends an email message.

You can add it to the WA_Globals file, this way it should get added to any page that sends an email.

still doesn't work

I put the ini_set("sendmail_from","info@soleusrunning.com") in the globals file, but it still doesn't work.

Question. The Universeral email is using the Mail object instead of the PEAR mail for SMTP.

Is this the correct object? It appears that the (actually it does) host uses the smpt mail and not PEAR.

Test out the contact form here: contact-soleus-running.php

It seems the mail object is not connecting to the server to send out. It's very weird becuase I have a simple for (outside of the universial email) that works. Here's the code:

/code/
$name = $_POST['name'];
$email = $_POST['email'];
$website = $_POST['website'];
$text = $_POST['comments'];

$to = 'info@soleusrunning.com';
$subject = 'Message from soleus running website';
$body = "Name: $name\nEmail: $email\nWebsite: $website\nComments: $text";
ini_set('sendmail_from', 'website@adaoglobal.com');

mail($to, $subject, $body);
header("Location: http://www.soleusrunning.com/index_jenabled.html");

/code/

I get the following error msg

Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "mail.soleusrunning.com" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in D:\hshome\darno1\soleusrunning.com\WA_Universal_Email\mail_PHP.php on line 253

What are you entering for the SMTP server in universal Email? Try leaving the SMTP server blank, in your test script you do not set it, so it must be set in the php.ini.

O

I'm letting the PS universial mail setting prevail. Here is what is set.

<?php echo ($WAGLOBAL_Email_Server); ?>

I'm not setting the SMTP

I'm not setting the SMTP...It's set in the Globals file
<?php echo ($WAGLOBAL_Email_Server); ?> is what is in the UM setting

The Globals file has this set as the mail server

$WAGLOBAL_Email_Server = "mail.soleusrunning.com" ;

my site is 99.9% complete and ready to launch except for the blasted email.

Thanks for any help,

Terry

Try changing:
$WAGLOBAL_Email_Server = "mail.soleusrunning.com" ;

to:
$WAGLOBAL_Email_Server = "" ;

It sounds like the email server is set in the php.ini file to something different.

Perfect - It worked

Thank you!

It works now. I see why because as an ISP you don't want people sending SMTP to your mail server so change it inside the network. Makes sense.

I'm able to get the email now.

I appreciate your help.
