Inconsistancy between menu preview and actual menu

Inconsistancy between menu preview and actual menu

Hello,

I have created a menu in MenuWriter. When I preview it within MenuWriter my type appears white on a dark gray bar -- just like I want it to. However, when the menu is imported into Dreamweaver the type is black. I've looked at my type settings over and over in MenuWriter and they appear correct AND the preview within MenuWriter is correct. I've looked at my CSS for my main page and I can't see anything that would be overriding my MenuWriter code -- I believe it's specificity is greater than anything else.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated . . .

If you can post a sample url demonstrating the problem I could look and see if I can spot the problem. Your analysis seems accurate but I'd have to look at the code to have a guess at what might override it.

Preview different from actual menu . . .

Hello Ray,

The plot thickens . . . what I described earlier was what happened when I tested the file locally . . . I've uploaded the files as you suggested and I get something different. Now the color that should be my "hover" background color is coming up as the link background color. I'm sooo confused! Maybe it's just too many hours as this . . . anyway the test url is as follows:

RBLB_new/

Thanks for any assistance,

Leslie

Just so I know what I'm looking at, could you include a few screen shots? Or a detailed description of the color you expect to see and the actual colors you do see? What browswer and operating system are you using? I just want to make sure I understand what I am looking at and what I am looking for.

Inconsistancy issue

Hello Ray,

Here are screen shots of what I'm talking about. The first 3 are when you click to preview within the MenuWriter interface. The next one is from within Dreamweaver when you click to "preview in Firefox." The fifth screenshot is when you look at the same page when it has been uploaded to my server.

Thank you,

Leslie

This is because you have the "highlight current page" feature and all of your links are blank. So it thinks that all the links are the current page and highlights them all.

Browse to it with a page name like:
index.html

or set the links correctly so that it will display them properly.

Then you are left with just the text color issue on the main level.

To fix that, update:
#outerWrapper a:visited {index.html# (line 159)
color:#FFFFFF;
font-weight:bold;
text-decoration:none;
}

that seems to be overriding the color of the link when visited, and they are all marked as visited since they link to the page being viewed currently.
