I pulled this off the pdf,

Note: If you are using your localhost as your testing server, you can use
the following API key. However, once you publish your page to your live
server, you will need an API key created for that domain/URL.

i don't use local host, i use vhost for testing server; but i tried that key an it would not work.

On my live server, using the api key generated for the www.mydomain.com
the page shows without the google map and i get this error on IE8

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

If you are testing locally, you are using localhost, so you should use the API key that gruant pointed out. When you start testing on your live server, don't forget to change the API key to the one you generated for that.

Like i said, i don't use localhost i use an Apache server and virtual hosting

i used the 'localhost key' from help and it gives the message that this web site needs a different Google Maps API Key.

i used the key generated for this web site and when going to the live server, got the error in my previous post

Sorry, but i got this solved.
I got the correct api key for the live web site and when i uploaded the page, i did not have the auto upload of companion files. So the folder google_javascript did not automatically upload. After i manually uploaded the files, everything works.
