Shopping Cart Always Empty

Shopping Cart Always Empty

I truly don't know what happened here. This is an older cart that I built with late version 3 or early 4. The server where the site was hosted changed their file structure and SSL setup so I had to go in and change the links for the redirect on the checkout page so it would transfer the cart contents to the secure checkout form.

I only changed the link on the checkout button to transfer the cart contents. Uploaded the new page, and now the shopping cart (not the page I updated and was working perfectly) is not receiving the data from the add to cart buttons. Just says Your Cart Is Empty.

Truly don't know how I affected the shopping cart page by working on the checkout transfer contents page.

here is the URL shoppingcart.php

I looked through the forums and tried the solution about adding session_commit(); line, but that did nothing for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, lets make sure there is no a problem on the server end with session management. upload the attached sessionTest.php page to your server. This will test whether the server has a problem retaining session information or not.

Ok, I have a session management issue

Did the test and now I have a session management issue. This is new.

Session test is coming up NULL (bad) but the Session ID does stay the same.

Now what?

ps - sorry for delayed reply, got busy and client was busy with other things, so just getting back to this now.

you need to contact your host to have them fix the problem. You can demonstrate the problem for them with the session test page I sent you.

Jason, How do I test the server? I uploaded the file..now what? What do I do with it?

after uploading the sessionTest.php file, you need to browse to it in your web browser.

When the page first loads, it will show that the value of the session variable named Test is equal to "NULL".

Click on the first link, this should change the Test session variable value to "Test"

Click on the second link to reload the page.

If the value of the test session variable remains "Test", that means session management is functioning correctly.

If the value of the test session variable changes back to "NULL". the test fails.

most likely it is a problem with the session.save_path setting in the php.ini file. you will need to contact the host to have them correct the problem.

Resolved

The issue is resolved, it was a scripting issue on the host that had turned off the session control.
