Will ProMaps work with WordPress?

Will ProMaps work with WordPress?

Hi, Two questions please:

1. Anyone used it that can tell me how I would make it work with WordPress? Use the code from ProMaps & Dreamweaver and drop the HTML into WordPress page editor??

2. I purchased ProMaps and I'm now not getting the proper output I think. Here is what I have from Dreamweaver CS3:

<script type="text/javascript" src="google_javascript/wagmp_map_1.js">/*wagmp*/</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&key=ABQIAAAALqsWmQx_b0xG9b9UgxYerBR3sMBvDtZyIVIgy1LyyQqsbfVOXhRXXUZ3-gKDu9PRuuanOgvV6FldGQ">/*wagmp*/</script>
</head>

<body><div id="wagmp_map_1" style="width: 300px; height: 300px;"></div>

<script type="text/javascript" src="google_javascript/wagmp_maps.js">/*wagmp*/</script>

Am I missing a step or what?

Thank you,
Riley

I'm not sure of the steps you would need to take to get this incorporated into a WordPress page but if you have a link to a page where you are trying to get it in place I can take a look to see if there is something wrong that I can spot.

Eric,
Here is the URL where I tried numerous times to make this work:
map2/

Thanks in advance for you help!

On the page you posted it looks like the map div is on the page and also the js references are there, but when I check the location of the js files I get a 404 error indicating that they have not been uploaded to the server.

wagmp_maps.js

wagmp_map_1.js

If you are not able to upload the google_javascript folder to your site then you should try adding the script from these files directly into your page inside of <script> </script> blocks.

Thanks again Eric for looking at this. Stupid question, but where do I find the google_javascript folder"? Is it from Google or within your extension. I must have missed this step.

Once I have it, not problem installing on my server.

This google_javascript folder should be created by the extension. It should be in your local site root location that you specified in Dreamweaver.

Eric,
Thanks for your replies. The program works fine on a standard website, but will not function within WordPress. I purchased it for this platform only. I need to request a refund. How do I go about that?

Thanks!

While I haven't integrated pro maps in Wordpress myself, I don't see why it wouldn't work correctly. When I view your example site about, I get a Javascript error in the simplestats.js file. Since there is an error, that is preventing the other JS from running including the stuff for pro maps.

I would recommend using Firebug (its an extension for Firefox) to debug your Javascript and fix any errors. Once you fix the errors, I think pro maps should work. You might want to try just creating a new page in Wordpress to give a clean starting point, and see if the map works on that page. Then add in your other code and see what if anything is causing a conflict.

I also noticed the google_javascript files weren't found on the sample page still.

Hi Justin,
Thanks for the reply. When I add the google_javascript to the site where WordPress resides, it messes up my WordPress. Some form of conflict I guess. :)

I did start with a fresh page in WordPress and it did not work. It worked only a site where WordPress was not present and I could format with it Dreamweaver.

If someone would write a plugin for WordPress using Pro Maps, that would be the best solution in my opinion.

You can do this to achieve what you want

Host your map page as a plain php/asp page and then use the plugin listed below to display that page in an iframe on the wordpress blog

embed-iframe/
