£ sign and PCI

Hi

considering buying the product but note in the spect that only $ is accepted. Is this the case or can it be set to £

second as of Oct 18th it appears that credit card companies will be changing the way they work and will require higher scurity PCI

Does the software support this or is this controlled by the card process company

thanks

Ian

Ian,

1. eCart does support the £ sign as standard this site uses as basic a eCart set up as you can get with the £ sign without any issues.

2. eCart in itself does not require PCI compliance it is the system you integrate it into that needs to be compliant if that makes sense. Basically if you do not store cc info (YOU SHOULDN"T EVER) and you use a secure checkout page and payment service provider with proper security implemented on your network you are nearly there. I am approaching this from a small business point of view larger companies will have slightly different requirements.

update

Thanks for that Dave,

In the past I've used Cartweaver but I have one client who previouly had an ecommerce system done with Shopfactory. With all this new PCI it appears that they have had to stop using their existing global charge system to enable PGP.

Problem is that to carry on using the existing web site the client would have to have their own full copy of the program or I'll need to implement a third party PGP system.

Just looking into the whys and wheres although (arn't clients wonderful) I was only called about it yesterday and it all happens today!

thanks for the help

There is a tutorial on the PowerStore Support page in the How To Section titled "How to change PowerStore's currency" that will help you with modifying PowerStore to use £ instead of $.
