Preview display not working correctly?

Preview display not working correctly?

Hello,

I'm a menu writer noob, however I think I may have a problem. I'm running Menu Writer with Adobe DW CS4 on Win XP Pro. The issue that I'm having is that the preview display does not seem complete. What I mean to say is that I'm not seeing any graphical elements, rather all I see during the design stage is a crude display of menu links... not styled, just HTML. They only way that I can see the actual graphical display of the design is to preview in the browser by double clicking on the preview area. I should also add that while I can see what I would expect when the browser launches, the display seems a bit wonky. That is to say, sometimes it does not seem to refresh properly after making changes, things seem to be missing or not updated properly... it's strange.

Hope this makes sense! Any ideas what is going on or what I might be doing wrong? Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

J

I have seen problems similar to what you are describing in the preview. The issue in these cases was the version of IE that was installed, do you have IE6 installed? On my test environment with IE 6 I get the same result.

If you do have IE6 installed you should try upgrading the browser, I would suggest going with the new IE8, it seems to work well.

If you do not have IE6 installed please let me know and also tell us what IE you do have installed and when you updated it.

Hi Eric,

Well, yes... IE6 is installed on this machine but I don't use it.. it is simply resident. I use Firefox (the latest version) for all my day-to-day browsing and development work. So are you suggesting that by simply having IE6 installed on this machine that could cause my menu writer display to go wonky?

I'll investigate IE8.

Cheers,

Joe

UPDATE...

Just to let everyone know, installing IE8 on this machine solved the problem, the preview now displays correctly.

Awesome!

Thanks for the great suggestion, worked perfectly.

Cheers,

Thanks for confirming that updating fixed the problem for you, hopefully someone else will find this thread and benefit from it. I'm including some other phrases here that may help someone's search.
