Targeting withing a page in Menu Writer

Hello,

I am creating a menu that will link to a few pages, but I would like many of the submenu items to link to specific areas within those few pages. Basically "targeting" down the pages to specific content. The Menu Writer interface accepts the links (/directoryname/pagename.htm#targetname) but seems to strip out the "#targetname" information afterwards. Please let me know how this can be accomplished.
