Local Delivery

We are going to be offering local delivery for the surrounding areas, how would this be implemented into ecart. It would have to be filtered from their zip code, I'm not quite sure how to go about this. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Tim

Essentially you could create a shipping rule or discount based on the zip code. You'd have to be more specific if you want more specific instruction.

What I'm wanting to do is based on a zip code charge them for local delivery so who ever is close to x its $5 next farther out its $10 etc. They would not be charge for shipping as it would be charged a delivery fee.

As this is the first time I'm using ecart I need a a little guidance in setting this up. So would it be easier to setup a shipping rule to do this or is there another way I need to do this?

I hope this is the information you were looking for.

Thanks,
Tim

Depending on how many zip codes, you could either add each zip code and an associated charge in the shipping charge area, or you could create a database and look up the associated charge and store that as a session variable and do a single shipping charge. Either way you would end up defining a shipping charge on the eCart shipping tab.

Ok, that sounds doable, so I would have them enter a code for what ever zip code they are in and it would only charge them the delivery fee and not the usps shipping cost right?

You would have to add conditions to your usps shipping charge so that it wasn't charged in those cases, or add a discount of the usps shipping cost for local delivery which would also work.
