Updating a grid created with the wizard

Updating a grid created with the wizard

Hello there,

I have used the DataAssist wizard to create a grid that will display several fields of my database. So far so good! The only problem is that now I realized that I really don't like the skin that I used when I created the grid, and I would like to show all my results on the same page rather than only 5 a page.

My newbie question would therefore be: Is it possible to go back to the Wizard to make some changes to my grid or do I have to start everything from scratch?

I guess there has to be a way to do that but I had no luck so far finding it in the tutorials..

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Bonjour Jean-Yves

Bonjour Jean-Yves

Cordialement

JY

(PS: sorry for using French here guys, no disrespect intended ;) )

You can just update the "repeat region" server behavior on the results page and specify to show all results.

No need to re-enter the wizard to change one small aspect.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Erm, I have done what you said (I have ticked the box "all records" on the repeat region of server behaviors) but when I preview my page it keeps showing me only 5 records in the main page. I have tried to set it to 20, or 30 records but nothing changes, I keep getting only the 5 first results out of my total 147, and I have to browse using the arrows which is not ideal.

Do I need to change something else?

Also, how about the layout/design of the grid? Can it be modified outside the wizard?

Is it actually possible to go back to the wizard or not?

Thanks

The wizard is not re-entrant. You can create new pages with the wizard, but cannot overwrite existing ones.

Most likely the maximum records value is not being updated properly. Try updating it by hand... search for the number 5 in your source code and when you find the one that refers to the number of records to display, update it to -1. That should cause all records to be displayed.

You can modify the layout just as you modify any other html page in Dreamweaver using all of the tools available from Dreamweaver.

You may want to run the wizard again, with the same options and specifying different page names, then copy over the results page with the newly generated page.

Another option is, of course, to start over.
