clarification on displaying upload images on data assist pages

hi readers
i have generated a sample site where i am simply trying to understand some of the aspects of using the wa extentions.

i am looking at photo file management for insert and update images using site assist to create the initial page. data assist to create pages using the mysql database and digital file pro to manage the photos.

i have created a database, done the main site and have performed the data assist stuff as recommended in the pdf.

i have done the pdf as per instructions relating to insert page but my current problem is when i am going through the DISPLAYING digital file upload on data assist pages.
the pdf says instead of inserting an image i should simply create a link (a href"") tag.

now i have sort of guessed that i can place my curser wher i want it to be in dreamweaver cs3 design view then click on code and can type in the (a href"") but i think it needs more than that because at that stage i can no longer follow the directions on the pdf which has been created to help with the very same software. ie it says about choose data source option ( i dont have one if i use a link tag?)
expand the record set used by my data assist form ?etc

so i guess i am asking if i am doing this the right way, if so what else do i need to do

if i am not doing this correctly which would be the simplest method.

thanks

terry

If you are uploading to a location within your web root, you can simply add an image... I don't think you ever need an a href, so that part of the documentation may be wrong or you are misunderstanding it. Just add the image and specify the src as the field from your database (and add in the upload directory before it).

If you are creating secure images you need to create a page that will download the image using the download file server behavior that comes with Digital File Pro. Then specify the src of the image as that download page and pass a parameter to allow you to filter the recordset on that page so that the correct image is displayed, but that doesn't seem to be what you are doing.
