DataAssist Wizard does not show database connections

DataAssist Wizard does not show database connections

Hi,
I am having trouble with the DataAssist Wizard.

I have defined a connection to an Access database by using the Coldfusion 8 administrator and have tested the connection and it works fine.

However, when I start the DataAssist Wizard, the Connections drop-down list doesn't show any connections. It just contains the default ***none***.

Can someone please tell me how to get the Wizard to populate the list?

Many thanks,
Jean-Yves

Did you also define the connection using the 'define' button next to that drop-down list in the SecurityAssist wizard and creating 'new' connection? What message do you get when you test the connection that way?

Like neilo said testing the connection is very important to see if there are any errors. Does your site have access to the ColdFusion server? Most of the time when you can't connect it is due to an issue with establishing a connection to the server listed in the testing server portion of the site definition.

Hi thanks for the replies.

I have to admit that I don't really get it. When clicking on "define", I enter the Coldfusion Administrator where I originally set my database by adding a new datasource. When I click on "verify all connections", the status comes back as "OK" but this still doesn't populate anything on the connection drop-down list of dataassist.

I have tried with 2 different MS Access databases so far, one for dataassist and one for securityassist and I get stuck for both addons because the connection appears as ***none***

Any thoughts about what might be going wrong?

Thanks

To test out your connection for the data create a new page and save it to the site. With the page open go to the Databases tab of the application panel. In here you should be able to view the datasources that are available from the server. If not there will be a check list to gain access to the datasources asking you to enter your RDS password. Once you have established a connection to the datasources here you will be able to select them from within the tools.

sorted

It wasn't exactly that but you pointed me to the right direction. It's all sorted now though

Dreamweaver was not looking in the right localhost address (it wasn't looking in localhost:8500)

Thanks for that!
