Discount Code

How I can pass a field name for a "comment field" on the checkout page to go to paypal which allows my customer to download it in their history report? I should say also that this is not going to create a discount. Its to find out who referred the customer. So maybe I should say its a "comment field"

I'm not very clear on the objective that you have laid out. It seems that you are wanting to pass along a custom field to the checkout that will be retained as part of the info for the order. Is this correct? You mention that you would like the user to download this in a history report. Please post back and explain a little more about what you are hoping to accomplish. I think with a little more detail we will be able to help guide you along. Also include info about your checkout weather it is Payments Pro or another PayPal checkout.

Yes, I need a comment/customizable field for payments pro. I would like to add it to the ecart checkout page. I can't find the field names on the paypal help website. And I have tried using address2 and phone number since we aren't using that but those don't even get posted even if you put in a phone number!

I did not create a database. We are trying to keep it inexpensive for the client so that it just shows up in the history report in his paypal login area.

You can pass along custom info through the custom field in the checkouts. In the Direct Pay you would update this on the confirm page in the local checkout on this page. On step 4 of 5 find the custom field and bind whatever value you would like to it.

For the Express Checkout pages this is on the checkout page, and the server behaviors on the pp_confirm page. You just ensure that you bind the custom field with the value you would like to pass through.
