database remote connection

OK, I know that the answer is probably right in front of me, but I can't figure out how to get my remote server to connect to my database. I am all good with my local server. I uploaded my site to godaddy. I can see my pages fine. It is not drawing from the database (dynamic menu not finding products, etc). I created a database in godaddy with the same name as my local one, i imported the store.sql file from the local database, checked online, but it did not fix my problem. Can you advise? I have a feeling that the answer is really quite simple.

Regards,

Lisa
P.S. does the store.sq file "house" all the data that I have entered? If not, where is it?

I think there are two things that you will need to do to get the info ported to your live server. The first thing you need to do is export your data from your local environment. As you noted the store.sql file is empty of content, it is just the structure. Most MySQL GUI tools will allow you to export the db as an sql file. You should then load this file into your live db.

The other thing to pay attention to is the name of the db on the live server and how you connect to it with the username and password. You will need to ensure that the connection file you have on the live server lists the details for the live db and not your local one.

If you have these two things taken care of I think you site will work just fine for you on your live server.
