Version History?

Version History?

Is there an extension version history as it relates to which extensions replaced others, or that were incorporated?

I know that some extensions have "release notes", but I don't find any references to how they replaced, or were the replacement of, another extension with a different name.

The reason I am asking is this. I own the Super Suite, and a few upgrades. I now am an annual subscriber too. Some are obvious to me. For example, if there are two serial numbers in my account for a particular extension, then I own that version as well as subscribe to it. I understand that.

However, some extensions have been replaced or have moved on to a new version under a different name. It's easy when you are looking at "Digital FilePro 1" and "Digital File Pro 2". Obviously I am using 2.0.
But with extensions like "Dynamic Web Charts", did it replace "Dynamic Flash Charts", and with "Site Assist 3.0"...I'm not sure if "Site Assist Pro" has replaced it or what? And I believe "Dreamweaver tools for Google" is a discontinued extension, but not totally sure.

It would be helpful, to me anyway, if there was a note in the extensions that were discontinued or are being developed under a new name.

Having said all that, if these things are referenced somewhere, I'm missing it somehow. Can you direct me to their location?

Thanks,
TroyD

We don't currently have anything like this listed on our website but I can tell you a few:

CSS Form Builder replaced Validation Toolkit.
Pro Maps for Google replaced the mapping part of Dreamweaver Tools for Google although the latter is still available with other Google features in it as a free download (on the download page - extensions tab).
SiteAssist Professional replaced SiteAssist.
DataAssist replaced Database Search.
Dynamic Web Charts replaced Dynamic Flash Charts.

I think that covers the majority of replaced extensions in the last few years. Anything not listed on the tabs of the extensions page and downloads page would have been discontinued. Constant Contact is the only extension we are currently not selling that we have definitive plans to bring back.

If you have other specific questions, please post back and I will answer them since we don't have a better way of providing this information at this given moment.

Thank you, this helped. But just an FYI, it would be nice to include this information in the future if it becomes possible to do so. It would even help you in sales. I can assure you that many times, I was just about to upgrade but didn't because I wasn't 100% sure what the upgrade included. However, now that I have the subscription, that's not an issue. I wanted to give my point of view as a customer.

Thanks,
TroyD

Second this opinion and view

Troyd,
I second your opinion. There is a lack of version control documentations!
