TOO Wide

I have edited the form width to 526 to fit within my column, but the display lays out the form way too wide for the column with text running well into the old 800px wide layout.

I have edited both design and content layouts.
Bummer.

Also, there still seems to be no way to edit the existing from by calling up an edit layout from within the form. Following the instructions, WA wants to start fresh with a new form not edit the existing one.

turning out to be more trouble than hand coding.
Not good.

Even though you have specified a width of 526 are any widths for elements or labels combined to be greater than this value? It seems like the elements and labels may be larger than this. Also if you have css applied to the div that the form is in any margins or paddings could also affect the size of the area you are working in. Please post back with some more info about the form that you have setup and if you have a link to the live page that would be most helpful.

IT looks worse in preview

contact.php

The page looks worse in preview than online. I set the fieldsets to 508 and the main column is 530 or thereabouts. I tried to create a 2 column layout in the design area, but gave up on that. Was way too complicated with the default widths of the fields. You need to add some 2 column templates to the mix. It would be nice to have first & last name fields fit across the top without wrapping, e.g., but in order to do that, the labels have to be above the fields instead of to the left.

I think the main problem is the width of the textarea fields. However, even putting the left column of the form to 200px did not move the right column fields to the left...

The instructions available online are not as thorough as they could be, and as you noted when you were helping me on web connect, the features are not well explained or intuitive. I tried to replicate what we were doing with 2 columns, but I could not find sufficient info in the PDF's.

Considering that any 2 column layout under 900px wide is going to create a problem for the default widths for CSS Forms, this makes using the templates difficult.

A 500 px wide template might be helpful as well.

Thanks for the link to the page, it is very helpful. I have checked it out a little and tried making some adjustments and I was able to get it to almost fit like I think it should. What I did was modify the left margin property of the form.Coolnarrow_Coolnarrow style like this:

form.Coolnarrow_CoolNarrow {
color:#B6B6B6;
font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size:11px;
margin:0 0 0 -22px; /*the part I added*/
padding:0;
width:526px;
}

Another thing that may affect it in about the same way could be the padding of the div it is being placed in so you may want to check there also. You should try making this edit for the margin in the Form Builder interface so that it is saved with your custom form preset.
