Creating DataAssist pages moves some of the update page code to the insert page.

Creating DataAssist pages moves some of the update page code to the insert page.

I have tried this on both PC and Mac Dreamweaver. When we create the Data Assist pages, we typically choose Results, Insert and Update. Rarely do we use the search. We configure everything in the server settings for form field types, labels, etc. Then, when it comes time to build the pages, 9 times out of 10 the update code recordset, some includes and the update behavior are inserted onto the INSERT page and not the UPDATE page. I haven't discovered if it's an ordering issue, like if I do the insert first then the update or vice versa, but it's highly frustrating. I have to manually move all of the script includes back over to the Update page, along with the recordset, etc. This is happened from DW 2021+.

Also, on the Update page, one of the scripts uses an absolute link back to my file and not a relative link. Also just an annoyance because I then go back and edit the include URL to be relative to my site. That file is the dataassist_button.css include.

I've updated to add screenshots of the code generated after the procedure. I must also note that on the update page field selection it crashed DW2021.3 twice before working the third time.

My process for page selection on this was RESULTS, INSERT, UPDATE in that order.

Has anyone else experienced this issue when using the WA > Create Data Assist Pages function?

Thanks in advance!
(Ray I hope you're feeling much improved!)

I see all your issues and don't have any answers.
But I do have some contribution to my experience with Update pages.

I know that on the update pages if I don't move the lower level php for connection to the top, update always fails. There are two php lines that really need to go to the top of the page. I have to do it all the time for all my database updates pages. Always.

And, Ray has taught me not to have any empty spaces when closing up the php code.

As far as my method of which pages to create first I do:

Not sure any of this helps but an insight as to what I have tried to deal with.

HTH or at least contributes to this discussion.
