Are there any upgrades I should be aware of?

Are there any upgrades I should be aware of?

My sites were hacked in March of this year because I didn't know about a code update which I should have installed. I'm just checking back to make sure I haven't missed anything lately.

Also - how do I change the email address on my account? I dropped the one listed due to spam.

Thank you,
Laura

I'm not sure what you have installed or what you are using, but we haven't had any security updates or security holes discovered in several years, so you are probably ok.

You can update your email address on the "My Account" page when you are logged in.

Thanks Ray. I had tried changing my email several times and it looked like it didn't work. Now I logged out and logged back in and it did take.

As for the updates, in March you sent me all new files for CMS and I redid all my sites using it. The hacker must have exploited some old code. You said there had been an update but I never received an email about it. That was when my old email was still working so I don't know why I never got the notice but it worries me that I won't get notice in the future. It could have been a much easier fix before the hacking. Is this something to be concerned about?

Thank you.

The cms security hole was found more than a decade ago. That was the last major security issue we had. We sent emails to our customers, but never put it on the site or yelled it from the mountain top because it would have brought attention to it by would be hackers. It was probably easy to miss the email since we were sending a lot of emails at the time. We don't send many emails now, but would certainly send one out if we found a security breach.

I think we are more aware of the security issues that exist and what needs to be addressed now. No more issues have been found in more than a decade, so I'm not concerned about it and I use the code on many websites. Anything is possible, but I find it unlikely that something would slip by us now. Of course customers can create their own security holes while developing sites since we give them that power, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
