SQL statement problem

SQL statement problem

I am trying to use SUM in a repeat region sql statement that produces a list like this:

John Smith 1023
Bob Brown 956
Mary Smith 854

For each name, there are multiple records that match the SELECT statement (CountType='Life' AND CountArea='County'), but I only want one record displayed for each name with the SUM(Quantity) of all of those records for that name.

I can't figure out how to do that.

See the attached file for what I have done so far.

Try:

SELECT SUM(Quantity), FullName FROM birdlists WHERE birdlists.CountType='Life' AND birdlists.CountArea='County' GROUP BY FullName ORDER BY SUM(Quantity) DESC
