Case sensitive unique db value

Hi Ray

I'm using the server validation on a page - things seemed OK, until I deliberately duplicated a value - but used all lowercase letters instead of a mixture (e.g. bread van and Bread Van) and this passed the unique database value validation.

Is there an additional setting I need to use?

Many thanks

Chris

If you update your database column collation to something that is case insensitive and your check will be case insensitive as well.

(any collation that ends in _ci is case insensitive)

Did this help? Tips are appreciated...

Thanks Ray

It was set as _ci, which led me to check the server behaviour - I had it set to check the id field, not the name filed!

All OK now. Thanks again.

Cheers

Chris
