Email is hosted on Exchange Server?

I thought I should ask this before I get too far along. I notice that the cart options set up a "from" email that would include the domain name of the company, however, the actual email for the company is on an exchange server, not hosted on the same host as the domain name. Is there any problem with the WA server sending out these emails of carts to the client or to people who post questions even though the domain email is hosted elsewhere? Right now, while using the IP address for the site, that hasn't gone live with the domain name, the lost password function sent me an email. Just now sure how server sending works... Thanks,
Jeff

There are settings in the Send Email server behavior that would allow you to use a local SMTP server, or specify a remote server with username and password to send the email. You could use whichever you want to send emails.

local smtp would be fine. Is that automatic? they just need to send shopping cart orders to the client. They don't actually process orders on the site but get an order form.

Local smtp is the default. You have to update the settings to specify a remote smtp server and credentials if you want to use that instead.
