Dreamweaver uses your testing server to connect to the database. If you go to the database connection page and click test for your connection what happens?

Is your local server running? Can you connect via phpMyAdmin to the local database? Since this is an issue on your testing server, I'd need to do screen sharing to debug it. If you post your phone number or skype contact information in the private area of a reply, then I can call you and help you figure it out in a quick screen sharing session.

We found that the localhost web server wasn't running properly in a screen sharing session. If you can't browse the url listed as the testing server url in dreamweaver, then dreamweaver won't be able to connect to your database. Maybe look at any error files in your MAMP server or try reinstalling MAMP to resolve the problem. Once you can browse your localhost, I think you will also be able to view the database in dreamweaver.

It has to be the testing server settings not pointing to the correct url.

TRACKED PROBLEM DOWN FINALLY.
DID A COMPLETE REINSTALL OF MAMP PRO , UNDERSTOOD THE DEFAULT PASSWORD FOR ROOT TO BE ROOT AND HAD BEEN WORKING ON THAT PREMISE, SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE ROUTES PASSWORD ... AND IT WORKED.

SO CHANGED ROOT PASSWORD TO ROOT AND IT WORKED AGAIN, THIS TIME I DELETED THE PASSWORD AND THE PROBLEM RE-APPEARED
HAVE TRIED IT OUT AN IT WORKS FINE,.

JUST SHOWS THAT IT DOESNT PAY TO ASSUME DEFAULTS ARE NOT ALWAYS IN PLACE
