Max number of cahaters not born honoured

Max number of characters allowed/set in field are being ignored

Have setup a field with max characters limited to,12.

When entering you where able to more than 12 characters , only when i post the record I get an get a mysqli error,

Is there a way of stopping this from happening , looks bas

You can use client or server validation to restrict the number of characters. You can also set a max characters on the input field itself. You could also take only the first 12 characters with php. There are a lot of options for this.
