I don't understand this but this is similar to what we have working on some of the pages of my site.

RewriteRule ^Golf-News/([a-zA-Z0-9_.-]+) mypage.php?customerid=$1&post_type=Golf [NC,L]

What adds all of that data to the URL? You can use a mod rewrite, but you would have to update all of the links to use the new syntax defined in the .htaccess file.

These are new pages so adding the new links is not a problem. Yes, it is in the htacess file, and the links will work either way so if rewriting a link is accidentally missed and the 'long version used' it will still work.

It looks so much nicer when you share the link via text, email or to Facebook is my main reason as most people are using their phones anyway so you do not see the complete url anyway.
