Simple question. Will the Payment go thru if I remove the Credit Card Type field?

Simple question. Will the Payment go thru if I remove the Credit Card Type field?

My bosses asked me to remove the Credit Card Type on our checkout system. They think most companies don't use that any longer because the systems know which credit card it is based on the number. So, the question is, should the checkout process still work if I remove that field (along with the 'required' php code of course) ?

Thanks.

What payment gateway are you using? I don't think it is needed by most. If you attach your confirm.php page I can see where it is being used. I have a function I can put in that will detect the credit card type based on the number that I can put in as well.

I think Authorize.net still requires it, but I can give you code to detect it based on the credit card number instead of asking for it.

Remove lines: 484-505 and then remove line 37.

That should do it. It looks like it isn't required anymore even for authorize.net.

ok. did those two things. We'll await the next order from a client and hopefully all works intact without the cc type. Thanks for that.
